Vacancy Details

We are looking to appoint experienced, values driven curriculum lead for Personal Development to work with children who have been, or are at risk of being, permanently excluded, many of whom have EHCPs.

Voyage Learning Campus is based in Weston-super-Mare. We are the Primary and Secondary Pupil Referral Unit and Medical Provision for young people in North Somerset. We are passionate champions of vulnerable young people in North Somerset who need additional support to help them transition to the next phase of their learning.

The successful applicant will be based within our Phase Two team, working with children from secondary age from Year 8 through to Year 11. You will need to be confident in working with children whose presenting behaviours can be challenging to ensure good progress, both academically and socially and will be able to teach a range of literacy based subjects to include English, PSHE, citizenship and be able to deliver our 'Passport for Life' curriculum to develop a range of vital life skills. As a classroom teacher you will plan and deliver learning activities that meet the diverse needs of the students you work with, embedding our Relationships and Behaviour Policy as part of your everyday practice. The successful candidate will need a high level of resilience and a commitment to helping every child achieve more than they believe is possible.

In return, we can offer:

  • The opportunity to make transformational difference to the lives of young people in North Somerset.
  • A vibrant community of supportive colleagues and engaging young people.
  • A positive and caring ethos.
  • A team of hardworking, dedicated and friendly staff where everyone is valued.
  • A supportive and effective Senior Leadership Team, Management Committee and local authority.
  • A clear commitment to continuing professional development and an investment in future career development.

We strongly urge anyone interested in applying to come and visit the school (once described to us as "an afternoon of magic"!) to meet the team and see us in action.

The Voyage Learning Campus is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people and all appointments are subject to enhanced disclosure and barring service check and satisfactory references.
